Summer Reading!

Hey First Grade Parents,

If you are looking for a great summer reading idea for your beginning readers, our first graders have LOVED the easy reader books called BRAND NEW READERS.  They all fall around level C – E.  These books are cuter than cute and actually have a story line to them and make us laugh (doesn’t happen often with level C books!)!  I created a wish list on amazon for you to check them out.  They are a great deal and would be great to keep your little one reading this summer!!

Welcome!

Are you looking for the class lists?

To view them, go to the Georgetown School blog. (they will be posted on Friday, June 13)

Are you visiting our blog because you will be in this class next year?

If so, WELCOME!!!

Please take some time to explore all of the pages, posts, and links on our blog. While you are looking around, be sure to sign up for email updates by filling in your e-mail address in the subscribe by e-mail rectangle located on the upper right-hand column. Our class blog will be the site for information about school supplies, special events, pictures, curriculum, assessments, and so much more. A school supply list will be posted on July 1. Later in the summer, I will provide information on the blog about the August open house. I will also be sharing stories of the fun that my sons (Hatter, Ollie, & Cas) and I have this summer.

And, don’t forget to stop in to OPEN LIBRARY this summer…the boys and I are hoping to swing by each week and it would be so fun to run in to some of our new first grade friends!

Also, remember to sign up for email updates on the Georgetown School Blog.  The school blog will provide updates all summer long about school wide events and important details about open houses and calendar dates.

Open Library!

This summer, our school library will be open for students to check out books.

On Tuesdays, 10:00-12:00, students can stop by school to check out books and visit with their favorite teachers. Research has shown that students who choose to read throughout the summer are more successful readers. Help to establish healthy reading habits and mark this on your calendars. Looking forward to seeing all of you there!

Our Last Week…

What a fun week we’ve been having at school!!  The kids have looked forward to popping the balloons each day to see what our surprise is for the day!!

Tomorrow we are going to have a bubbles and chalk day outside!!  We are also going to read outside tomorrow.  Please send your child to school with a beach towel and sunglasses!  We will use them during our reading time.

Ask your child about our fun Minute to Win it games we played today!!  They were so fun!!

Please remember to continue to send your child with a backpack to school, we will keep sending things home all week.
