Wow! The first day of school is sure sneaking up quick. To help with the transition into a new school year, be sure to attend our Georgetown School Open House. The event will take place on August 28 from 6:30-7:30.
If you have not had a chance to fill out our parent survey, please do so ASAP!!
Also…We are so thankful for the volunteers who came to help us out with some jobs around the classroom last week, but we are in need of parents who would be willing to cut out some more sight word cards or reading bookmark tools. The work can be done at home and involves the cutting of cards and assembling these into paperclips.
If you are interested, please contact me!
*We will have a few bags ready at OPEN HOUSE tomorrow to send home with anyone interested in helping! 🙂
Thanks so much to all of you that were able to make it in last night to help us with some first grade prep. work!! We were blown away by all the volunteers who showed up last night, the room was packed! The sheer number of scissors at work in the classroom last night was impressive. And it was a blast to see some of the first graders and meet new faces!
We were able to get TONS of sight words cut and ready for the school year and a bunch of laminated reading tools cut. We so appreciate your help with these jobs, they would take us forever on our own!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

At the Open House, each child will have a chance to meet me, explore our classroom, find their locker, and even pick out their seat for the first day of school. It will be a great way to kick of the start of a new school year!!! I can’t wait!!! Until then, keep checking the blog for important information about first grade, summer fun updates, and a few more first grade memories.

I hope you are enjoying your summer break! I have completely enjoyed the adventures that Hatter, Ollie, and I have gotten to have together this summer.
As we wind down our vacation time, we are also working to get ready for the up and coming school year. There are so many little jobs to get arranged and organized before the end of the summer. We, first grade teachers, would LOVE some help getting ready. We thought it would be a great way for us to get to know you before the school year begins, as well as getting some much needed help with some time consuming jobs.
We plan to have a work night next week and we would love for you to join us. Our work night will be on Wednesday, August 21st from 7 to 8ish. If you would like to stop by and help, we promise to keep you busy!
