Monthly Archives: June 2012

Thank You!!

Thanks so much to all of you that were able to make it in tonight to help us with some first grade prep. work!!  We were able to get TONS of sight words cut and ready for the school year.  We so appreciate your help with these jobs, they would take us forever on our own!

BUT, we aren’t done! 🙂 And we would love to have you join us again.  We are planning our last work night on Thursday, August 9 from 6-8ish.  Mark it on your calendars, we would LOVE to see you there!

Help Needed!

I hope you are enjoying the start to your summer break!  I am completely enjoying the change in routine and staying in my jammies while Hatter and I play.

As we enjoy each summer day, we are also working to get ready for the up and coming school year.  There are so many little jobs to get arranged and organized before the end of the summer.  We, first grade teachers, would LOVE some help getting ready.  We thought it would be a great way for us to get to know you before the school year begins, as well as getting some much needed help with some time consuming jobs.

We plan to have a few work day/nights throughout the summer and we would love for you to join us.  Our first work day will be on Thursday, June 28 from 6 to 8ish.  If you would like to stop by and help, we promise to keep you busy!

If so, WELCOME!

Please take sometime time to explore all of the pages, posts and links on our blog. While you are looking around, be sure to sign up for email updates by filling in your e-mail address in the subscribe by e-mail rectangle located on the upper right-hand column. Our class blog will be the site for information about school supplies, special events, pictures, curriculum, assessments and so much more. A school supply list will be posted on July 1. Later in the summer, I will provide information on the blog about the August open house. I will also be posting pictures from all the fun we had in first grade last year, and sharing stories of the fun that my son, Hatteras, and I have this summer.

Also, remember to sign up for email updates on the Georgetown School Blog.  The school blog will provide updates all summer long about school wide events and important details about open houses and calendar dates.

I’ll Miss You!

Dear Parents,

I give you back your child, the same child you confidently entrusted to my care last fall. I give him back pounds heavier, inches taller, months wiser, more responsible, and more mature then he was then.
Although he would have attained his growth in spite of me, it has been my pleasure and privilege to watch his personality unfold day by day and marvel at this splendid miracle of development.
I give him back reluctantly, for having spent nine months together in the narrow confines of a crowded classroom, we have grown close, have become a part of each other, and we shall always retain a little of each other.

Ten years from now if we met on the street, your child and I, a light will shine to our eyes, a smile to our lips, and we shall feel the bond of understanding once more, this bond we feel today.
We have lived, loved, laughed, played, studied, learned, and enriched our lives together this year. I wish it could go on indefinitely, but give him back I must. Take care of him, for he is precious.
Remember that I shall always be interested in your child and his destiny, wherever he goes, whatever he does, whoever he becomes. His joys and sorrows I’ll be happy to share.
I shall always be his friend.
